It was a Wednesday evening, 8pm and getting dark. For our kids who have started school, the Wednesday's of the week are always that goofy mid part of learning in process, yet an excitement to get through the school day as fast as you can because 82 degree days having you feeling like Summer is still hanging on and school can just 'hold a bit'.
But, this is What a Wednesday(s) are made of. What kids remember and adults forget. It is a time of living life as best can in the midst of two worlds. The first, of education calling and study is required. The second, of outside fun and the enjoyment of it for as long as you can make it happen. The question – do you see it and understand that for kids, the EOS (End of Summer) days are to be worked through as best you can?

So kids – learn from us 'older kids who have been there & done that'. School can be tough some days, frustrating at other times and often, a fun time of learning, sports, music and or whatever. 12 years may seem like forever, but it is not. Live well, play hard, learn as you go, and know that life is most often, a long game to be played. Just do your best, live, laugh, learn, and yes . . . down the road . . . love and you will do well. Oops, and don't forget – get your rest, you'll need it. And then you parents – keepers of the family and all that is critical as a parent. You have the challenge of life's ultimate juggle; that of family, faith, finances, friends, and fitness. That is, mixed in between those 5 challenges, you have to just make sure you don't forget that within that entity called family, is a mix of frustration and happiness, the children that you and your wife have. Be understanding, be patient, be forgiving and be trusting. All of our kids are our precious treasures. If we forget that, we've spent too much time on the wrong things. |
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
